| | My "Economics in Public Policies" book is boring me to death right now so here I am. x) Sort of needed to rant anyway, I watched My Sister's Keeper with Jon the other day and I'm kinda disappointed. :/ Not saying it wasn't good, just that I've got really high standards since the book is one of my all-time favourites. Nevertheless, I'd recommend the show to anyone with an abundant supply of tissues, haha. :) Please skip the rest of this post if you don't want spoilers.
What I didn't like about the movie:
1. Rather slow-moving at some parts. Jon would fidget like mad and sigh very audibly at those parts just to prove a point (he kinda had to be cajoled into watching it with me). ._.
2. Cameron Diaz as Sara. Her acting was perfectly fine, I'm simply too used to seeing her in non-serious roles, like in Charlie's Angels and What Happens in Vegas.
3. Alec Baldwin as Campbell. Couldn't quite warm up to him. :/
4. The fact that they took the character of Julia out completely!!! I loved the subplot in the book about her and Campbell, maybe even more than the main storyline itself. Yes I'm a hopeless romantic. x)
5. Meek, 15-year-old Jesse instead of the dark, 19-year-old delinquent with arsonistic tendencies. Always helps to have an emokid around, no?
6. Most disturbingly, the intimate scenes between Kate and Taylor. Kate was supposed to be 15 but looked 12, while Taylor looked at least 17 or 18. They had a full-on makeout scene, and went as far as to have sex in a later part of the film, which didn't happen in the book. :o I felt dirty just watching them kiss, it bordered on child porn. ._. Now here's the confusing part: I'm not entirely sure they did have sex, despite Wikipedia saying they did. If I remember correctly this is how things played out:
Jon (during the scene where Kate and Taylor leave the hospital party and wander around by themselves): They're going off to have sex!
Me: No they're not! They're just going off for some alone time.
Jon: They're sooo gonna have sex.
Me: I'm telling you, they're not! I read the book alright?
Jon: Wanna bet?
Me (confidently): Sure!
(Cut to the next scene. Kate and Taylor are lying in a bed with no clothes on.)
Jon: SEE! They're naked!
Me (less confidently): ...That doesn't mean they did anything...
(Next scene. Kate's upset because Taylor hasn't called her in a few days and is ranting to Sara.)
Kate: We did IT, okay?!
Jon: SEE!!! (Echoing a joke Kate made to Taylor earlier when she lost a bet to him) You owe me sexual favours now.
Me: ...What the.
Sara: WHAT??? YOU DID IT???
Kate: No, we didn't do IT, it, but we did some stuff!
Me: SEE SEE SEE!!!!! No sexual favours for you. :D
Jon: 
HAHAHA. So yeah, I'm pretty darn sure I'm right and Wikipedia's wrong. x) Jon was obviously kidding about the favours though, don't get the wrong idea okay guys? ._.
That's it I guess, am off to bed soon. Gotta start sleeping early to prepare myself for morning papers... :/ Goodnight world. :)
